Digital Mammography
First in the area to offer digital mammography, breast MRI and 4D obstetrical ultrasound, the Women’s Center at MCAI is unlike any other. The Katherine A. Roy Center at our Naperville location offers diagnostic and screening appointments including personal
on-site consultation with the radiologists-all in a
unique spa like setting. The Center is named after the
late mother of the owners, who credit her with their insatiable drive and desire to bring good to the community. The Naperville location also offers full women’s services including
ultrasound, Breast MRI with biopsy if needed, and osteoporosis evaluation.

For patients who are anxious or have had to experience multiple call backs in the past, appointments are available at the Naperville location to meet with the radiologist and get results at the time of the screening appointment.
One of the greatest advances in women’s imaging is Digital Mammography, a computerized form of breast imaging that allows better visualization of dense tissue. The electronic image can then be displayed on a computer screen and be manipulated by the radiologist to change contrast, alter the brightness or magnify an area. This results in less films being repeated. Another advantage of digital mammography is the use of Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) which allows the computer to act as a second “set of eyes” and improve overall accuracy.
Digital mammography still requires compression to achieve proper images so that most patients will not notice a difference between the older film screen technology and the newer highly complex digital systems. Discomfort is minimized by using highly qualified technologists that specialize in this area and understand how to prioritize patient comfort. At MCAI our technologists are carefully selected with this in mind.
